a tamil tigress

i pray thee --
don't soil my national chastity
o son of the soil
i am virgin like the sweet coconut-water
of our island grooves.
years ago
a leapt off the native shore
with Buddha's ancient caravans
to bridge the boundaries,
to meet the isolated
to love the alien mother...
and not for greener pastures,
my dear young Sinhala brother.
you know
i sweat under the angry tropical sun
to pluck prune in your plantations ( tea/rubber gardens)
to make our life and land fertile.
i pray thee ---
don't spoil my personal dignity/modesty
o law of the land
i am not afraid of the fires
burnibg in your eyes,
i am frightened of the flames
burning between your thighs.
don't conceal your dagger
under your orange robes
but kindly tame your testicles.
call me what you will ---
tamil tigress or tamil bitch.
i am neither for the tamil  eelam nor for dravid desham .
for i never had the wild dream
of ethnic eccentricity
or racial rarity.
i will not flee with the refugee boat
for i am the daughter of the motherland ---
the land of Sri Lanka.
